 Great gig from the lady who wears the pants ! I came across this one by chance on a 2010 night, coming back home late, turning on the idle TV set and ... WOW !! ... ended up in bed one hour later ! This is why, first taken aback I missed the first minute. Not really annoying since this was the beginning of the A-Team theme intro but to be fully complete I've pasted the missing minute from a recent lower definition webcast. The rest of the show is straight from the clear TV broadcast. There's another lower quality pasted bit (only 26") between "More" and "Boys Wanna Be Her" due to a technical glitch, but again, with no real disturbance.

The elegantly boisterous Von Bondies at SXSW 2009. Clean clear quality as it was initially filmed in HD. Maybe too clean sometimes as some of the band's songs would sound fitter to a darker sleazier crammed venue. But well ... have always had a crush on Leann Banks (as the back cover and the menus may reveal ! :-)) who now plays with Amy Gore & Her Valentines.

I first came across Shaka Ponk in july 2009, pre Samaha-big-screen era. Viewing what may be the best French video clip ever ("How We Kill Stars" - see below for those who would still dare not to know !) urged me to see what they're worth on stage.

Mixed feelings at the time. Frah didn't seem to have taken on his front man role yet or maybe he was a bit tired by their still relentless tours. Things have much gone better since, but even in those days, one unquestionable thing was already there : these guitar-electro heavy beats + crazy crafty video footage definitely blow your mind !! Visually speaking, must be the best show (alongside the Flaming Lips') I've ever attended to.

So, enjoy here ...

Another bite of IAMX's gorgeous dark electro. Don't expect multi-angle close up shots here. It was filmed from the audience (thanx again to the uploader, Neformat, and his patient stiff arm !), from the 10th row or so but it is HD and clearly gives you the feeling of being part of the show. The sound is sometimes (rarely !) muffled or saturated in deep bass but it is pleasantly watchable on the whole.

One of my favourite ones ! The Hives are back in town and everybody (including them) is having a blast. The recipe hasn't changed : it's fast, sharp and straight. Their punk-rock garage sound still tops at 100mph and only stops to give way to Pelle's funny mock megalomaniac banter. He was on top form that day !! Some complain about it but it really gives an extra value to the show ! Anyway, they "have returned. The shit is real. Take it away ...!"

Let's get back to rock'nroll. And I mean ... ROCK'N ROLL, with the most dangerous band who has never set foot on this planet : MONOTONIX !! This is unstoppable madness ! You end up breathless in a thunder of 70's barbed fuzz guitar. I've never seen them play on stage, always in the middle of the audience and this, right from the start ! Ami, the singer, climbs, jumps, bounces, crashes, crawls, play the drums on your head, drinks beer in your shoe, etc... - I couldn't resist to include the footages (extract below) that enabled me to discover them in 2009  at SXSW. It's very shaky, saturated and filmed right from the pit but it's giving a real good picture of the lunacy which is going round there ! Watch out the trash can !!!!

In the extras : snippets of personal memory of when they came over here with a tasty but enigmatic cover of a famous French song, with a drummer picked out from  the audience.

Well ... my first breach in the rock spirit mood of this blog. Also my first dabbling in dvd authoring. But I would say the guy deserves it. I didn't know Chris Corner in his Sneaker Pimps era but I do remember my ear-pricking up sensation, scanning his first album at a free listening kiosk in a record shop, back in 2004. For sure, the man has a tormented soul and it often runs through his songs but his voice, writing and  melodies are always made up of a great mixture of sensitivity, beauty and power. IAMX's shows used to be often blamed for their too dim lit stage.If darkness does contribute to their own atmosphere and dark electro, it shouldn't prevent people from seeing them play. This is why I chose an open air festival where they played in the late afternoon. This is an audience recording (thanx again to "as1mar's" for having so a resilient arm !), so, it can be shaky at times and you can have some hands and heads in the way here and there. But this is HD and can be comfortably watched as if you were part of the audience.

Browsing the chapters and menus may sometimes look confusing (especially on TV with a dvd player) but  the "Back", "Main" & "Next" tabs are actually "hidden" on the TV set buttons, on the right. 

My apologies for "The Alternative" and "Skin Vision". I noticed they were not full length too late but I spent too much time on the project to start it all over. I didn't have much room left anyway. The dvd is packed (99,2 % !), you have some bonuses but, sorry, I had to reduce the quality of the last two videos to cram everything in.
Anyway,  while waiting for IAMX's  new 2013 album & dvd, I hope you'll enjoy this one.
