*************************************************************************
To celebrate the "Soon" coming 10th anniversary of the gig and since it has been rebroadcast in better quality lately, here's an updated version of this Triggerfinger's early years dvd.
I've also decided to start it all over again to fix the obviously corrupt parts of the initial post, back in 2013, that some of you let me know about.
Actually, even if it is often a bit tedious to re-work something you have already done, it was nonetheless a true delight to get into this again. After years seeing them at so many concerts, I have almost forgotten how awesome they were from the beginning. More, here, are some real gems from the days of the first album I have hardly ever heard live since, "Faders Up", "Drivin'", "Maybe", "Commotion".
The interview is also a good way to check how they have faithfully stuck to their "goals" after all these years playing and touring everywhere.
The authoring of this re-issue reminded me too of a funny bit I had probably missed the first time during the "3 On Stage" session. Between "Lil' Teaser" and "Is It", a young girl obviously is asking something which makes the audience and the band laugh altogether. I guess this is something like "Who's this ?' but I don't speak Dutch. Maybe our Dutch friends could help us out on this ...
I've kept the original post below...
*************************************************************************

Four years ago, I stumbled upon an article about Triggerfinger, lavishly described as a talented Queens Of The Stone Age-sounds-like band. The interview was full of loud promises and they soon turned into my next top list power trio to see on stage. I've repeated the move 4 or 5 times since, even going to see them live at home, in Belgium, and I must admit, I've never been disappointed. What's more is they're just adorable guys, always keen on having a chat with people after the show, even after a scarcely filled one, while they're systematically sold out with a snap in Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands. Fortunately, their popularity is growing, down here too, which is truly deserved. They've got everything, smart look (often tuxedo dressed), rockin' posture, great voice, years of practice on different projects. As a side note, they've just won 4 Belgian Music Awards again, for Best Alternative, Best Band, Best live and Hit Single of the Year !! So, don't miss them if they come round.

The show we have here is one the earliest I've got. Their first album came out in 2004 and this one is dated 2005. Ruben has still his dark side whiskers and used to play on a double neck guitar, which I've never seen him do since. I've added a few extra footages, mainly covers which they seem quite like to appreciate ... as much as we do ! Hopefully, some more coming in the following weeks ... In the meantime and if you wonder if it's worth downloading, well ... have a "first taste" at this :

Hope you'll enjoy the show.

Cheers !

Among all the Triggerfinger's shows waiting on the shelves at home, this one is certainly not the best in picture quality but has something special in the conditions it was held. On this clear day of early july, the national Belgian football team was meeting Argentina for their quarter final of the world cup. Of course, Triggerfinger was due to play right at the time of the match ! Being afraid to perform in front of a not so big audience (and maybe also to miss the match !) the band  asked the festival management team to put off their show later in the day. Their offer was eventually put down and they hit the stage to see that their Belgian fellows had finally made the right choice ! And they were damn right ! The band is in good mood and in great shape here. The set is definitely high-energy, particularly thanks to the awesome solo on "My Baby's Got A Gun", "Camaro" and "All This Dancin' Around" !
However, the bunch wasn't totally cut off from the match ! At some points of the show, two lovely babes nicely popped up on stage, waving and holding high a placard mentioning the score of the match. Unfortunately for Belgium this time, their team lost but Triggerfinger certainly eased the pain !
Another reason why this dvd is a bit off the beaten track is that for the first time, I've added some personal footage of some shows I attended this summer. Indeed, I was lucky enough to see our shooters twice within 3 weeks in quite "intimate" festivals, especially the Cosmopolite one at which they played a not so common "Splendor In The Grass" from the last album, after a show at Lowlands the day before and another one in ... Budapest, at Sziget, the day after !! Good God, who's their booker ?!
Their Cosmopolite show was also somehow sprinkled with mishaps (see their Facebook for details, particularly the one about Mario's trousers ! :-)). That's why, I've also included a funny version of "Cherry" whose opening taking-off part was obviously giving hard time to Ruben, which really made his two friends laugh (see below for a glimpse) !
This is precisely what I love in this band. Above their unquestionable talent, skills and style as musicians, they have managed to keep this pleasure and fun to play together as well as their capacity to wonder ! This is what makes their concerts so enjoyable and different every time.
Of course, here, in this "Bonus" part, the framing is less "pro" and not free from shouts, jiggles, comments and cheers (including mine ...) but the image quality is clear and hd.
Anyway, these two shows in 3 weeks showed again the band is worth the drive to go and see them and I have already filled the tank up for their next extensive-intensive tour in October-December, 50 shows in 14 different countries ! Don't miss them !

Enjoy !

Cheers !

What can I add about this band I haven't said  before ?  So, here's another hot rocking show from our shooters at one of, if not my favourite festival, Pukkelpop, in Kiewit, Belgium. This was one of their last ones on their European summer tour, which ended in Istanbul on september 7th, (and here's the good news !) before flying to LA to record their new album, due spring 2014. Some great new loud gigs ahead !!

Enjoy !

Cheers !

I'd been undecided for quite a long time whether I would go or not to Pinkpop this year. The line up was tempting, Queens Of The Stone Age, Triggerfinger, ... ! I eventually stayed home, The Netherlands mean quite a long drive from here, but I didn't miss the live stream of one of my favourite band. And, on that sunday evening, they were once again impressively awesome !! They had been on a touring break for about 2 months and I was looking forward to seeing what they were up to and if they had any new material. I didn't get disappointed. The new song, "Attitude For Darkness" is quite engaging, based on an old school rock boogie riff that passed through the audience just like another great Triggerfinger's nugget. But the masterpiece of the show is no doubt "My Baby's Got A Gun". I've seen Triggerfinger quite a few times, live and on screen, and this number is not my fav of the last album, but I must admit that, here, the band delivered a devil possessed version of the track. Mario and Mr Paul's rhythm section is pounding as ever, Ruben's voice is at his top and his circular-saw riffs rip the song apart all the way (as you can hear below from the soaring take-off at 2'48) ! Looks like Mario is particularly keen on being back on stage too, when you see him screaming, licking his cymbals, leaving his drum kit behind to swagger  in front of the stage or else, tapping on glasses, on a bottle of wine and a Pinkpop bedside lamp on "I Follow Rivers" !
On top of that, our three shooters showed up in a very elegant pink suit to pay tribute to the festival (look at Mr Paul's "gold plated" shoes too !). Very smart ! At last, thank you Dutch fans for being so warm and responsive to the band and for making then this concert so intense. I am along with you with all the "beste band van pinkpop 2013 !" that sprang up on the web after the show. I wish they could get this rousing welcome here ! "Soon", I hope ...
I've added a few extras, from the same day and from an "old" early period !

Hope you'll enjoy !

Cheers !

Another thundering set by our Belgian power trio, back home, at the AB, following the release of their "All This Dancin' Around" LP. In front of a packed supporting crowd, our shooters are on top form. Ruben's voice and guitar are still stunningly extensive, Mario's solo just before "Little Teaser" is one of the most devastating one I've heard from him and Monsieur Paul's bass sounds as well, particularly heavy here ! So does the performance of "My Baby's Got A Gun" when, after the sweet bluesy start, a pulsating electricity blitzkrieg falls upon you !!
As the end of the concert closes in on the moving Ray Charles's cover from the album, I've tried to keep up the magic with a "covers corner" in which Ruben's voice turns the various-era songs into gold classics, provided they were not yet so. Particularly impressive on Dylan's "Ballad Of A Thin Man", lavishly delivered  in an incarnate version by Ruben The Voice. Thrills ahead !
Triggerfinger has always been terrific on covers (which shows well their openmindedness - see also their chart n°1 cover of Lykke Li's "I Follow Rivers'). Here, their second cover of Rihanna is again no exception. The video quality is lower than the other ones but I've chosen to keep it as I haven't found any other pro-shot video of the song. It is comfortably watchable nonetheless and the performance, with his Led Zep's Kashmir intro, is awesome (as you can hear it coming from the audience) !
The last section of the dvd is granted by a nice 2012 interview in which each members dig up their early years in life and in their budding starts as musicians. Really interesting and DON'T MISS Monsieur Paul's punchline at the end. Just hilarious !! :-)
Enjoy !
Cheers!
